Why one post is not five posts

The same paragraph is a fine tweet, an ad on Reddit, a rejected Show HN and a wasted maker comment. X wants one line. Reddit wants a person, plainly saying what the thing is and what it costs. A Show HN title literally has to start with “Show HN:”, and Hacker News moderates against titles written to stand out. Product Hunt wants the origin story the listing has no room for.

Draft the launch post for each venue

The same announcement does not work on X, Reddit, Hacker News and Product Hunt, and writing four versions on launch day is how launch copy ends up generic. This drafts each from your listing plus your own note about what makes the app worth attention.

It completes the launch chain: the directory says where to submit, this says what to write, and the campaign link builder tags the URL so you learn which one worked.

What it cannot tell you
  • Hacker News asks people not to post generated text. Its guidelines say so directly, and this page says so too rather than quietly handing you a Show HN draft. These are drafts to rewrite in your own voice, not to paste.
  • Reddit communities differ on self-promotion and change their rules; no subreddit’s policy is asserted here. Read the sidebar.
  • The prompt forbids invented social proof, naming or comparing against other apps, and any claim about in-app purchases — the public listing does not expose them.

Can I post AI-written text to Hacker News?

Its guidelines ask you not to: HN is for conversation between humans. Use the draft as a structure and rewrite it yourself.

How long should a Show HN title be?

Under 80 characters. Sampling live top stories shows titles cluster at exactly that, with longer ones only where a moderator has appended a tag.
