Comparison
App Store screenshot tools, compared
There is no ranking on this page. Nobody here has run all 6 of these for a quarter, so a score would be invented. What follows is the shortlist, in alphabetical order, with one line on what separates each — and a link to the vendor’s own pricing page, because a price restated here would be out of date before you read it.
Conflict of interest
Appstro has a free screenshot designer of its own, so it competes with several tools on this page. It is not listed among them — this page covers third-party tools — and none of the entries are ordered or described to make it look better by comparison.
AppLaunchpad
Browser-based, template-driven, and outputs the required App Store and Play sizes directly.
Figma
Not a screenshot tool — a general interface design tool, listed here because store creative can be drawn and exported from one. Relevant if you want full control rather than a template.
Previewed
Mockups and store screenshots with 3D device scenes rather than flat frames.
Rotato
A Mac app rather than a web tool, aimed at 3D mockups and animated product video as much as static shots.
Screenshots Pro
Online generator focused on producing a complete set from templates rather than one image at a time.
Sketch
Mac-native design and handoff. Same role as Figma here — the tool the creative is made in.
What you have to check yourself
None of this is knowable from outside, and it is where the decision actually gets made.
- Whether it exports JPEG. Apple’s screenshot specifications forbid alpha channels, and a PNG from a canvas carries one whether or not anything in it is transparent — which is a rejection at upload with nothing on screen to explain it.
- Whether your source captures are large enough for the size you need. A listing’s existing screenshots cap at whatever the developer originally uploaded, so an old set cannot be scaled up honestly.
- Whether the device frames it draws are Apple product images. Apple licenses those and requires them unmodified; a neutral frame avoids the question entirely.
- Whether you can re-export the whole set when you change one caption. Doing ten by hand twice is how screenshots stop getting updated.
